Dubai-born Rayhan Thomas has risen above 15-time Major champion Tiger Woods in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) following an impressive showing at the International Series Thailand.

The 24-year-old posted rounds of 69-63-64-68, securing a shared seventh-place finish at Thai Country Club and pocketing a cool $44,380.

The impressive result also saw Thomas surge up over 250 places to 1006th in the OWGR, ahead of former World No.1 Tiger Woods in 1060th.

Although Woods' position reflects his injury and surgery woes, Thomas' accomplishment is still a notable achievement none the less.

The former Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club member’s ascent to the cusp of the top 1000 is thanks to a series of standout performances since he turned pro earlier this season after graduating from Oklahoma State University.

Beginning the year at 2793rd, he quickly broke into the top 1500 with an impressive T8 finish at the International Series Morocco on the Asian Tour.

He missed the cut at the International Series England but rebounded in superb fashion by capturing his first professional victory at the Coimbatore Open on the Professional Golf Tour of India.

Now, following his strong performance in Thailand, Thomas is preparing for the Second Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School this week at Fontanals Golf Club in Girona, Spain.

Should he play his way into the Final Stage, Thomas will be one of 156 players competing over gruelling six rounds for the chance to play on the 2025 Race to Dubai schedule.

Each player will play two rounds at the Lakes Course and the Hills Course at INFINITUM, before the top 65 and ties play the final two rounds at the Lakes Course.

After six rounds, the leading 20 players and ties will earn DP World Tour playing privileges for 2025.

Thomas last played on the DP World Tour as an amateur at the 2019 Saudi International. He has also played the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and Dubai Desert Classic, where he made his first cut on the Tour at the age of 17 in 2017.
