Climate change is real and happening

Humans need to be accountable and take measures to stop climate change

A European election drubbing has served as a harsh wake-up call for Germany's leaders that young voters fear climate change and are furious about the government's glacial response to it. Climate change is a topic that is being discussed all around the world. Even though a few people believe it is a myth, research and historical data shows otherwise.

Environmentalists and research groups are warning people of a gloomy future if the situation continues to get worse. A lot of harm was done to the environment in the past 20 years. Thanks to the improvement in quality of life, we have umpteen brands producing the same item. Our busy lives have created an unprecedented demand for quick, ready-made and instant consumables. This creates an increase in waste, which affects the planet. There requires a cultural shift in our societies where all members act responsibly and take steps to protect the environment. People should take measures to save the environment. Biodegradable and reusable materials should be implemented in daily life. Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and the fast food business rarely come in line with environmental sustainability. With urbanisation and globalisation, there is an increased population who have the purchasing power to buy packed and tinned items. These brands become popular but at the cost of the environment. Our water bodies are bearing the brunt of our actions and are becoming a dump yard for trash and plastic.

Water bodies, ranging from local lakes to the mighty oceans, are being heavily polluted with waste and sewage disposal. We are losing our biodiversity and ecosystem.

In a world and time where there are efforts made on problem solving and devising newer technologies to combat different challenges that we face, environmental maturity is indeed on a global scale. Human perseverance and our resilience have taken us a long way, and we will hopefully have a brighter future. We need to be mindful that climate change is real, every action counts and our collective efforts are the need of the hour.
