This Pagani is a Dh19.8 million hypercar you cannot buy!

Last year, Pagani, the Italian supercar maker founded by Argentinian entrepreneur Horacio Pagani, had revealed a hardcore Huayra dubbed the Dragon. Although it was said to be a one-off, the carmaker has now announced that five examples will be built.

The new variant of the Huayra is now called Imola, after the famed circuit Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari that's referred to as Imola. Incidentally, the new variant’s development was also done at the Imola racetrack.

The Pagani Imola is a rolling laboratory that is being used to develop and test important innovations that will be used in some of the carmaker's future models.

Power comes from a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V12, mated to a 7-speed sequential transmission, delivering 827 horsepower and 1,100Nm of torque to the rear wheels.

Thanks to advanced composite materials like Carbo-Titanium HP62 G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 used in ultra-reinforced central monocoque of the Pagani Imola, weight is a mere 1,246kg.

Pagani even developed a bespoke painting system, Acquarello Light, which has helped shave 5kg from the overall weight.

The suspension geometry has been revised in order to keep dive and sway on braking under check. Pagani claims this means the driver can take a corner by braking at the last thousandth of a second.

Aerodynamics have obviously taken precedence over aesthetics, as Horacio Pagani, Founder and Chief Designer of Pagani Automobili himself admits the Imola isn’t a looker. “We can't say that it's an elegant car. We wanted an efficient vehicle, and just as you'd expect if you were looking at an F1 single-seater, this led us to design a car with additional aerodynamic features. So, although on the one hand these details may detract from the lines and overall aesthetics of the vehicle, on the other, they also allow to improve lap time, ease of driving and especially safety.”

Just five examples of the Pagani Huayra Imola will be built, each reportedly priced from 5 million euros (Dh19.8 million). However, even if you have that kind of money, you can’t buy any as all five have already been sold!
