Breast cancer awareness initiatives on across the UAE

FOCP initiatives

Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP), has launched its ‘Pink October’ campaign, which will be led by its breast cancer awareness and early detection initiative– Pink Caravan– and feature 90+ events and activations across the nation, throughout October. The community events will be published by Pink Caravan on its socials @ThePinkCaravan.

The Pink Caravan Mobile Clinic will offer free mammograms to female residents of the UAE who are over 40, subject to certain conditions. Additionally, the Pink Caravan MiniVan Clinic will provide clinical breast examinations to all women aged 20 years and above who walk in.

Pan UAE Pink October activations:

On October 7, Pink Caravan’s Mobile Clinic will be at Festival Plaza, Dubai from 11am to 5pm;, and at Kite Beach on October 29, 4-10pm.

Other dates: On October 8, at Mirdif City Centre, Dubai, 4-10pm; October 10, at the Al Sharee Women & Kids Park - B, in Abu Dhabi, from 11am-2pm; October 13 at the Majaz Waterfront, 4-10pm; October 15, at the Brands For Less Shopping Centre in Motor City Dubai from 10am-4pm. On October 19, ladies can avail of free clinical exams and consultations at the Shangri La Hotel in Dubai, 4-6pm; and on October 27 & 28, at the Global Village from 5-10pm and at Al Habtoor Polo Club, Dubai from 2-6pm.

At Deerfields Mall

Deerfields Mall with Burjeel Hospital is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Pinktober event will be from October 13 to October 15, from 6pm to 10pm, in the Garden Area of Deerfields Mall.

Burjeel Hospital will have a mobile unit in the garden area on October 14 and 15 offering free breast cancer screening tests from 6 pm to 10pm. There will also be an awareness stand in the garden area of Deerfields Mall to educate female shoppers about the disease.

In addition, the Mall has dedicated October 14, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to meet cancer survivors and hear about their success in an interactive and positive atmosphere.

Screening camps and more at Umm Al Emarat Park

Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi will host a fitness and wellness program that highlights the importance of early detection and screening and living a healthy balanced lifestyle, while supporting those courageously fighting breast cancer.

Starting from October 9th and to encourage an active lifestyle, Peak Fitness offers guests a diverse selection of outdoor activities such as MMA, yoga and combat classes at the Amphitheatre from 5pm to 6pm. Ladies can participate in indoor Sweat classes or join their partners in a fun dance-inspired fitness experience. WhatsApp 058 945 0882 for registrations.

In collaboration with SEHA, a blood donation drive, open to all, will take place at the Park on October 19 from 4pm to 9pm.

A Pink October Walkathon on October 20t and 21, starting at 5pm is also planned. On both days, SEHA will also host a Breast Cancer Awareness booth which will offer free mammogram checkups opposite the Park’s entrance from 4pm to 10pm. Additionally, guests can listen to courageous stories from survivors and inspirational talks from 7pm to 7:30pm.

Events at Hudayriyat Island

Hudayriyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s leisure and sports hub developed by Modon Properties, has a month-long program starting with sunset yoga on the overwater cycling bridge. The session will be followed by a social hour, where women can bond through their shared experiences over mocktails, smoothies, and healthy bites.

As part of Hudayriyat Sport’s Dragon Boat series, two women’s races will run the second week of October in Marsana.

The third week will see padel sport and football with a double women’s tournament at 321 Sports.

There will also be a Women’s Cycling Championship with the finish line at Bab at Nojoum. Winners can look forward to exciting prizes.
