In the mood for cassata? Here's a quick recipe!

Layered with cake, ice cream, candied fruit and nuts, here's how you can make this dish at home



PREP TIME 10 m
COOK TIME 30m
SERVES 10
Ingredients

    3 pieces sliced tea cake or marble cake

    5 scoops strawberry ice cream

    5 scoops pistachio ice cream

    5 scoops vanilla ice cream

    50 gms pistachio, chopped

    50 gms cashew nuts, chopped

    50 gms tutti fruiti or candied fruits

     

    You will also need:

    A loaf tray

    Parchment paper

METHOD

1. Line the loaf tray with parchment paper.

2. Add the sliced cake pieces. This is the first layer.

3. Add five scoops of strawberry ice cream, and cover the cake evenly. Top the strawberry ice cream layer with tutti fruiti and chopped pistachios and cashew nuts. Leave it in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Spread the ice cream evenly

Add tutti fruiti and nuts

4. After 15 minutes, repeat the same process with pistachio and vanilla ice cream. Top the final layer with more tutti and nuts.

Top it off with more candied fruit and nuts!

5. Wrap the loaf tray with parchment paper and leave it to cool overnight.

6. Once cooled, slice it evenly. Serve and enjoy!
