Nepal observes National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai

Chariot procession and a pledge to create a better future for all mark celebrations

Dubai: Nepal celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai on Friday with a chariot procession that is revered for bringing rain and prosperity. The National Day celebrations were also marked by a pledge to work collaboratively in order to create a better, safer future for all.

Yacoub Yousef Al Hosani, UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Organisations Affairs, welcomed Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal to the UAE.

Al Hosani said: “Through its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Nepal sheds light on its revived potential as a vital link between some of the world’s fastest-growing super economies and seeks to promote the vast opportunities it has to offer in fields such as tourism and hydro energy.

‘Expanding future collaboration’

“The UAE is proud of its relations with Nepal, which have thrived since their establishment 45 years ago, and we look forward to exploring the potential for expanding future collaboration in areas of mutual interest, such as education, climate change and tourism, with the aim of ensuring the continued prosperity and welfare of our people.”

Dhakal said: “This Expo is the epitome of the vision and determination of the UAE leadership and testimony to the collaboration and resilience of mankind against COVID-19 pandemic. At this Expo, we have opportunities to learn from each other, cultivate collaborations and partnerships and formulate strategies and programmes for inclusive and sustainable development. We promise to work together to create a better and safer future for all.”

‘Attractive destination for investors’

He further said: “We are showcasing our natural beauty, cultural heritage, social diversity and business potential in sectors like tourism, infrastructure development, fresh drinking water and agriculture among others. We are promoting Nepal not only as an attractive destination for foreign tourists, but also for investors and entrepreneurs.”

“In Nepal, we have the majestic Himalayas in the north, the mystical mountains in the middle and the fertile lands in the south, along with a diverse culture,” he added.
