The big day

  • The wedding took place on November 14 and 15
  • The couple withheld photographers until they posted them through their social media accounts
  • The pictures went viral with a message seen woven on Padukone's stole

Dubai: Pictures from the Deepika-Ranveer wedding are going viral online and, upon close inspection, Deepika Padukone’s outfit seems to have a secret message embroidered onto it.

One of the most talked about Bollywood weddings took place on November 14 and 15 at Lake Como in Italy as Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married.

The couple soon chose to release photographs through their official social media accounts from the two-day occasion.

Padukone is seen adorned in ensembles by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. But what caught fans’ attention was the border of the dupatta (stole) draped over her on the second day of the ceremony.

The elaborate red stole, covered in gold embroidery and motifs, had a personalised messaged woven into it.

It read, “Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava,” in Sanskrit, which roughly translates to: “May you forever be blessed as a married woman” embroidered onto it.

Fans couldn’t help but notice the sweet message and congratulated the couple on various social media platforms.

The power couple had a Konkani-Sindhi, two-day long wedding ceremony that created major buzz amongst fans.

Close friends and family of the couple were invited, while fans and media personnel weren’t allowed.

Social media users and followers eagerly waited for pictures to be released to get a glimpse of what the ceremony looked like and more importantly, what the bride chose to wear.

The couple, who is expected to return to India later this week, will reportedly host two grand receptions, one in Bengaluru and the other in Mumbai for their family and friends.

The events will take place on November 21 and 28, respectively.

Bollywood celebrities are expected to attend the occasions.
