The sequel to Emirati film Hajwala, the 2016 car-racing hit, is all set to return to the UAE box office. Abu Dhabi’s twofour54 has confirmed post-production for Hajwala 2: The Mystery Mission has completed. Shot across the UAE, the action comedy revolves around a band of outlaw car drifters who get caught up in a series of unfortunate events.

Directed by Ebrahim Bin Mohammad and Hasan Aljabri, the cast includes Captain Abdullah Youssef, the Saudi drift champion; Kshouna, a leading female automotive sportsperson; Miral Niazi, an Iraqi actress; Hussein Al Hosani, a young comedian and Emirati actor Omar Al Hashmi, the renowned drifter; and Abdo Feghali, a famous Lebanese drifter.

“The volume of content created in the Arab world is still very small compared to the size of the population and the demand, so it is critical that we address this as an industry,” said Maryam Eid AlMheiri, CEO of Media Zone Authority — Abu Dhabi and twofour54. “Projects such as Hajwala are showcasing the incredible talent we have in Abu Dhabi and the unrivalled support we can offer in helping filmmakers realise their vision.”

Hajwala 2: The Mystery Mission is scheduled for release on November 15.
