Dubai: South Africa has given the all-clear to UAE’s LuLu Group to build a state-of-the-art logistics hub in Johannesburg. The clearance was given by the South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa.

For LuLu Group, this opens up new set of opportunities in Africa, helping it build up a retail and support network. Plus, it will help the hypermarket operator source produce from South Africa.

The President made the comment was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Proudly South African’ Food Festival held at Lulu Hypermarket at Al Rawabi District in Jeddah as part of his official visit to Saudi Arabia.

He indicated that his government would work closely with Lulu to make this a reality by 2024.

“LuLu Group has recognized the range and quality of South African products and you will find more and more of them on our shelves,” said Shehim Mohammed, Director, LuLu Saudi Hypermarkets.
