Jaipur Rugs to showcase handcrafted masterpieces at Downtown Design 2024
Jaipur Rugs, a leading name in handcrafted luxury rugs worldwide, has announced its participation in Downtown Design 2024, one of the Middle East’s foremost fairs for contemporary, high-quality design. Scheduled from November 6-9, 2024, at Dubai Design District (d3), this event stands as a key highlight of Dubai Design Week, the region’s premier creative festival, according to a media release.
Jaipur Rugs has invited visitors to experience the richness of its designs and the exceptional craftsmanship that distinguishes it globally, and celebrates the artistry and tradition of its luxurious rugs.
Following a successful showcase at last year’s Dubai Design Week, Jaipur Rugs returns with a curated collection that celebrates the convergence of art and tradition. This year, the exhibit will present three extraordinary works, including the evocative collection "Silent Echoes" and two signature pieces by renowned artist Lorenzo Vitturi.
“We are thrilled to return to Downtown Design this year, as it provides a unique platform to share our journey of connecting traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design,” said Yogesh Chaudhary, Director, Jaipur Rugs. “Our participation goes beyond showcasing products; it is about telling stories through art, empowering artisans, and engaging the global design community in a meaningful dialogue about the beauty and depth of hand-knotted rugs.”
The “Silent Echoes” collection, an introspective series of hand-knotted rugs, invites viewers to reflect on the unspoken emotions we carry. Each knot symbolizes the complex layers of human emotions—guilt, shame, and the delicate balance between heaviness and relief. Crafted from high-quality materials like wool, Tencel, and silk, pieces like the WA-248 Ebony/Natural Mushroom rug (5x8 ft.) embody this emotive depth.
In collaboration with Italian artist Lorenzo Vitturi, Jaipur Rugs will also unveil the "Metamorphosis" collection. Known for his innovative use of diverse materials and cultural artefacts, Vitturi’s rugs in this series transcend traditional design. Inspired by his background in Murano glasswork and cinema, each rug interweaves symbolic elements collected from his travels, making each piece a cultural narrative.
The exhibition will further showcase the latest additions to the Manchaha Collection, which transforms artisans into artists by encouraging their uninhibited creativity, and the recently launched Limited Edition "Reverie Japonaise" collection. Developed with Kazumi Yoshida, Creative Director of Clarence House NY, this collection harmoniously combines Japanese aesthetics with contemporary design.
With Downtown Design serving as the anchor event of Dubai Design Week, this year's edition promises to be the largest yet, drawing over 100,000 visitors, including global brands, industry leaders, and creative studios.
Jaipur Rugs invites design enthusiasts, industry professionals, and the public to explore Booth D-20 at the d3 Waterfront Terrace to experience the world of rugs as art. Discover how each collection—from Manchaha to Silent Echoes and Metamorphosis—tells a narrative that transcends aesthetics, connecting deeply with human emotions, cultural heritage, and the transformative power of design.
