Cairo: Kuwaiti authorities are carrying out a public awareness campaign against littering public places. The drive spearheaded by the Environment Public Authority targets beach-goers and desert picnickers urging them to dispose of garbage in designated places.

Offenders face fines ranging from KD50 to 500, environment sources were quoted by Al Anba newspaper as saying.

“Throwing garbage in non-designated places makes the wrongdoers liable to fines according to article 33 of the Environment Law,” a source said.

The ongoing awareness campaign features posters about the importance of keeping places clean, and a crackdown on violations of environment regulations, the sources added.
