Macron wins pension reform backing from French upper house Senate
Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday won approval from the upper house Senate for his controversial pensions reform, ahead of an expected knife-edge vote later in the day in the lower house National Assembly.
The Senate, dominated by conservatives, approved the reform by 193 votes to 114 against, but the margin in the lower house is believed to be far thinner in a major test for Macron.
