Hyderabad: Police in Telangana have cracked the case of a man who went missing from his home more than a month ago and arrested his wife on charges of his murder.
According to Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat in a gory end to an inter community marriage, Nousheen Begum killed her husband Gagan Agarwal and buried him in a ditch dug for a septic tank in the backyard of their home.
Agarwal and Begum both 38 had married at Agarwal Samaj center in July last year after he had divorced his first wife but their story turned sour and ended up in murder. For both of them it was their second marriage. After marriage Begum was renamed as Maryada Agarwal.
Police also arrested her friend Sunil Kumar for helping her in committing the crime.
Police officials said Gagan Agarwal had gone missing on February 6 and his first wife lodged a police complaint.
Police probe later revealed that Begum killed him at their home in Mansoorabad, outskirts of Hyderabad and dumped his body in the ditch with the help of Kumar.
Begum left her home for her maternal home but continued to visit daily to ensure that no body suspected her. She told the police that she used to come home on the pretext of feeding the family cat but the real purpose was to ensure that the body was buried well by throwing the waste material of the house in the ditch.
Satisfied that nobody was suspecting her, Begum visited Ajmer for a few days where Kumar joined her.
Police grew suspicious about her hand in her husband going missing and grilled her bringing the facts to light.
During the questioning she revealed that she murdered her husband as he was harassing her daughter from her first marriage.
Family members of Agarwal alleged she killed him to usurp his wealth.
