Dubai: In a decisive legal victory for Egyptian pop star Sherine Abdel Wahab, Egypt’s Court of Cassation has ordered Rotana Audio and Visual Company to pay her 2 million Egyptian pounds in compensation and officially terminate its contract with her, local Arabic newspaper Youm 7 reported. The final ruling has closed the door to any further appeals by Rotana , ending years-long dispute.

Yasser Kantoush, Sherine’s lawyer, hailed the ruling as a definitive end to a protracted legal battle. In a statement, he said the court rejected Rotana’s final appeal and upheld a previous judgment by Cairo’s Economic Court, making the decision final and enforceable.

The dispute traces back to contractual disagreements after Rotana removed two of Sherine’s songs from YouTube and other platforms despite the end of their professional relationship, an act the singer argued was a clear violation of her rights.

The Economic Court had earlier ruled in Sherine’s favour, awarding her damages for the removals, a decision now affirmed by the highest court in the country.
