Total duration of visits must not exceed 90 days within one-year period
Dubai: Jordan and Russia have signed a visa-waiver agreement that will allow tourists to stay for up to 30 days, according to Russian news agency Interfax.
The mutual visa exemption for short-term tourism was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as reported in an official publication on the government’s legal information portal.
Under the agreement, citizens of both countries will be allowed to travel visa-free for stays of up to 30 calendar days. However, the total duration of such visits must not exceed 90 days within a one-year period.
Earlier, Russian citizens could obtain a visa on arrival at Jordan’s international airport, with a single-entry visa costing 40 Jordanian dinars (approximately $60), valid for up to one month.
A representative of Intourist said: "As a general rule, any easing of visa regulations, especially visa-free travel, has a positive impact on the development of tourism between the two countries. It is clear that the implementation of a mutual visa exemption with Jordan will help increase interest in the destination and stimulate growth in bookings for holidays on the Red Sea, as well as exploration tours during the peak season."
