Dubai: A Saudi media personality has celebrated Cristiano Ronaldo’s engagement to longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez with a gift unlike any other: A camel.

Ibrahim Al Faryan, a well-known Saudi journalist, announced the gesture on his account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“This is my gift to you on the occasion of your marriage,” he wrote. “The news has brought joy to us all, great one. Your gift will be in Riyadh when you return. Congratulations to you and Georgina.”

The unusual tribute followed Rodríguez’s confirmation of her engagement to the Portuguese striker earlier last week.

Last Monday, the Argentine-born model and influencer shared a photo of a dazzling diamond engagement ring with her 67 million Instagram followers, writing: “Yes, I accept … in this life and in every life.”

Although Rodríguez had been seen wearing the ring in previous appearances, neither she nor Ronaldo had publicly confirmed marriage plans until now.

The official announcement ends years of speculation over the couple’s future, after Ronaldo himself hinted in a 2022 Netflix documentary, “I Am Georgina,” that he was waiting for the “right moment” to propose.

Reports in European media suggested that Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, also presented Rodríguez with additional gifts to mark the occasion.

Ronaldo, 39, and Rodríguez, 30, have been together since 2016, after meeting in Madrid when the footballer was still at Real Madrid.

Their relationship has been closely followed worldwide, with Rodríguez becoming a global figure in her own right through her high-profile fashion work, media appearances, and massive social media following.
