Model shows off huge diamond as couple confirm engagement after nearly a decade
Dubai: Cristiano Ronaldo has put an end to years of speculation by getting engaged to his long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez — and he’s done it in typically lavish style.
Georgina, 31, revealed the news on Instagram with a picture of her huge diamond engagement ring resting on top of Ronaldo’s hand. The model captioned the image: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple, who have been together since 2016, share four children and have long been the subject of engagement rumours. Georgina had previously fuelled speculation in April by posting a photo of a different ring.
This time, however, the confirmation was clear — and according to beIN SPORTS, the ring is valued between $10.9 million and $13 million by jewellery expert Iñaki Torres, which equates to roughly 20 days of Ronaldo’s current salary at Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr.
Some specialists estimate that if it is indeed from Cartier, its minimum value would be about $5.4 million. Believed to be the classic Cartier 1895 model, the piece features a central diamond of at least 40 carats, drawing comparisons to the famous ring Richard Burton gave Elizabeth Taylor.
The engagement reveal came shortly after the couple hosted an intimate Friendship Day gathering for close friends and family. Georgina shared a series of Instagram posts from the party, where she wore a white dress with a pink floral pattern, captioned “Floral summer” and “Celebrating friendship. Who has good friends has a treasure.”
Ronaldo, 40, who remains one of the world’s highest-paid athletes, has been cautious in the past about discussing marriage, despite his nine-year relationship with Georgina. The couple first met in Madrid when she was working at a luxury fashion store.
The news has sparked a flood of congratulatory messages from fans and celebrities alike, while also reigniting curiosity over whether the pair might have already tied the knot in secret.
For now, the ring — and Georgina’s simple yet heartfelt “Yes I do” — appears to say it all.
