Dubai: At 40, most players slow down — but Cristiano Ronaldo? He’s just getting started. With a stunning “perfect goal” against Spanish side Almeria, the Portuguese superstar showed once again why his hunger for goals remains insatiable.

Ronaldo struck twice in the first half at the Juegos del Mediterraneo stadium to give Al Nassr the lead. The first was a breathtaking team goal involving Sadio Mane, earning praise from Al Nassr’s official social media as a “perfect goal.” He then coolly converted a penalty, extending his red-hot scoring streak.

Calls Ballon d'Or as fictitious

This brace adds to an incredible run of five goals in just a few days, including a hat-trick against Rio Ave. Now nearing 950 career goals, Ronaldo has already netted 99 competitive goals for Al Nassr since joining in 2022 and is eyeing his 100th as Al Nassr prepare for the Saudi Super Cup clash with Al-Ittihad on August 19.

Off the pitch, Ronaldo expressed frustration after being snubbed from the 2025 Ballon d’Or nominees, calling the award “fictitious.” Yet, he remains focused and recently signed a new two-year contract with Al Nassr, emphasising that his hunger for success “never fades.”

Ten Hag clarifies on Ronaldo at United

Meanwhile, former Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag, who managed Ronaldo before his departure in 2023, stated that Ronaldo “was never the problem” at the club and wished him well after Ten Hag’s move to Bayer Leverkusen. Ronaldo, however, has criticised Ten Hag’s mindset regarding United’s ambitions.

With the new season looming, Ronaldo is poised to continue his goalscoring exploits and chase historic milestones, proving age is just a number for football’s enduring icon.
