Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has foiled several attempts to smuggle heroin and other drugs into the country, where drug trafficking is punishable by death, the official SPA news agency reported on Sunday.
The seizures were made in various parts of Saudi Arabia, it said.
A spokesman for the anti-narcotics department said a total of 1,753,000 illegal pills were seized in the vast Gulf kingdom.
Other seizures included 2kg of heroin and 148kg of hashish.
