Manama: Authorities in Qatar are due to take legal action against 13 companies offering private security services without a proper licence.
Under Qatari laws, private security firms and the security guards working for them are required to have proper licences.
Ahmad Jasem Al Jafaari, the head of the interior ministry tasked with licensing the companies and guards, told Qatari media that the 13 companies were caught running services illegally during an inspection drive launched to check the licences of private security firms.
The interior ministry last year warned private security firms to comply with the law and get official documents for their operations, Al Jafaari said.
