Dubai: Qatar announced on Sunday a series of emergency measures to assess and compensate damages caused by the interception of Iranian missiles over its territory last month.

The move comes in response to directives from Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following a rare missile incident that drew regional and international condemnation.

Interior Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired an extraordinary meeting of the Civil Defense Council, joined by the Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the Council’s chairman, to review the fallout of the June 23 missile interception.

The meeting explored immediate response measures and approved the activation of an executive mechanism to deliver compensation to affected citizens and residents.

According to the state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA), the council reviewed the emergency steps taken immediately after the incident and approved an implementation framework to ensure rapid follow-through.

The plan, now in effect, aims to streamline assessment processes and provide relief to those impacted by the missile interception.

Qatar’s air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles, which were launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in a regional escalation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack in strong terms, calling it a "blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace" and a breach of international law.

The target of the missiles was reportedly the Al Udeid Air Base, a key military installation that hosts U.S. and coalition forces.
