Dubai: An Omani citizen and two Egyptian residents have been arrested in Muscat on charges of human trafficking, according to local media reports.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) confirmed that the arrests were carried out by the Muscat Governorate Police Command, in coordination with the Special Taskforce Police Command, as part of ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking in the Sultanate.

“Muscat Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the Special Taskforce Police Command, arrested three people, including an Omani citizen and two Egyptian nationals, on charges of human trafficking,” the ROP said in a statement.

The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.

Under Oman’s Anti-Human Trafficking Law, offenders face 7 to 15 years in prison and fines of up to OMR 100,000.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing the law and protecting vulnerable individuals, warning of firm action against anyone involved in such crimes.
