The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have arrested two individuals in separate incidents involving reckless driving and the illegal modification of vehicles to resemble police patrol cars.

In the Al Dhahirah Governorate, a citizen was apprehended for deliberately driving his vehicle in lanes designated for pedestrians and cyclists in the Wilayat of Ibri, thereby endangering public safety. The ROP stated that legal action is being taken against the individual, and procedures are currently underway.

The ROP also shared a screenshot from a video showing the vehicle being driven recklessly in pedestrian and bicycle lanes, highlighting the danger posed to other road users.

In a separate case in North Al Batinah Governorate, another citizen was arrested for reckless driving and modifying his vehicle to imitate a police patrol car.

The individual engaged in dangerous behaviour, including drifting and showing off, and had intentionally altered the vehicle’s colour to mimic a police car while covering its license plates to avoid identification.

A video shared by the police showed the motorist drifting and driving dangerously on public roads, posing serious risks to others.

The individual has been charged with multiple traffic violations, including drifting and modifying a vehicle to imitate a police patrol car.

"The legal procedures are being completed against him," ROP added.

The Royal Oman Police urge all motorists to adhere to traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
