Muscat: Vivek Bhatnagar, senior Assistant general Manager Human Resources with Bahwan Engineering Company, succumbed to his injuries late on Sunday night after battling serious injuries he suffered during a blast at an upscale residential complex in Muscat on August 11.

Eight people were injured when a leak in the centralised piped gas supply caused a massive explosion at the Muscat Oasis in Baushar suburb of Muscat.

Bhatnagar, father of a boy and girl, was admitted to the burns unit of Khoula Hospital with 30 per cent burns.

At around midnight on Sunday he diedAccording to reports, gas leakage was reported from a closed apartment. When the maintenance staff opened the door to check on the leakage a huge blast ripped open walls on the first floor, a second floor apartment and the car park.

The explosion also damaged the compound’s sewage system. Walls on two floors caved in and several vehicles were damaged.
