Manama: Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, president of the Royal Charity Foundation and head of the Olympic Committee, on Sunday pledged to fund the university education of 500 students from Bahrain’s five governorates with limited financial resources.

The pledge to help the students was announced as Shaikh Nasser who also chairs Bahrain’s Youth and Sports Higher Council celebrates last week’s birth of twin sons Hamad and Mohammad.

A special foundation will be set up to oversee the scholarships and draw up the criteria for the students to benefit from them.

The foundation will be named after Hamad and Mohammad and will oversee activities related to education and youth and will help with the character-building of a generation of young people dedicated to the service of the nation, he said.
