London: Fruity Katy Perry hosted the 2008 edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards to a screaming crowd of more than 15,000 people in Liverpool. The winners were announced and usual star-studded line-up of artists took to the stage to perform.
But this year there was one thing different as Rick Astley took the trophy for Best Act Ever.
Perry was joined by Perez Hilton to host the official online coverage and MTV News from the red carpet and backstage at the event on Thursday night at the city's Echo Arena.
Sir Paul McCartney arrived on stage in his home city to a standing ovation to pick up a surprise Ultimate Legend Award presented by the one and only Bono from U2.
