London: A pill that lowers cholesterol has been linked to an increased risk of cancer.
Thousands of Britons take Inegy and more than two million prescriptions have been issued across the country over the last two years.
But the American Food and Drug Administration has warned that there appears to be an increased risk of cancer in patients taking the two drugs in the pill. They are Simvastatin, also known as Zocor, and Ezetrol, also known as Zetia.
Britain's drug watchdog the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is "carefully reviewing" the claims.
