A shuttle bus driver was hurt on being hit from the rear by a sports utility vehicle (SUV). In the impact of the collision, the shuttle bus fell off Skyway, an elevated highway, in the vicinity of Metro Manila’s southern suburban Paranaque City early on Sunday, police said.

The driver, Allan Noal, was wounded but remained in a stable condition at the Paranaque Doctors’ Hospital. The accident occurred in the vicinity of Sun Valley village, Paranaque City, at 5.15am, Southern Police district chief superintendent Jose Erwin Villacorta said in a report.

Villacorta said that the shuttle bus did not hit any other vehicle when it landed on the service road of the southern Luzon Expressway.

The incident occurred after Noal had dropped off all his passengers, Villacorta said. Noal’s vehicle, which is owned by the operator of Skyway, drops passengers to their workplaces.

The driver of the SUV that hit Noal was not hurt, but held for over-speeding.

Several accidents have occurred on the south and north-bound lanes of Skyway.

Almost half of Metro Manila’s 10 million residents who either work or reside in the southern Luzon area pass through the busy Southern Luzon Expressway.
