At least 28 people were injured when a tourist bus carrying students from Kollam overturned in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, on Thursday morning, according to media reports.
The accident happened around 6:15 am at Kallukuzhy, Kadampanad, near Adoor.
According to panchayat vice president Radhakrishnan S, the passengers were B.Ed students from Fathima Memorial Training College, Kollam, en route to Vagamon for a trip. The vehicle also brought down an electric pole during the mishap.
"The bus had at least 50 passengers on board. The injured were immediately taken to the Government General Hospital in Adoor," Radhakrishnan informed the media. He added that Kallukuzhy Junction is a known accident-prone area.
According to Mathrubhumi News, witnesses reported that the bus was in poor condition, with excessively worn-out tyres lacking proper grip. The students were travelling in two buses, but only one was involved in the accident.
