Kabul: The British army says its has killed an alleged Taliban leader in southern Afghanistan.
A statement on Tuesday said Mullah Mansour was killed Monday in a strike by helicopters in Helmand province.
It says Mansour was behind a number of suicide attacks that have targeted British and Afghan forces in the region.
An Afghan government official confirmed Mansour had been killed.

The official says Mansour served as aviation minister in the Taliban regime that was ousted in 2001 by the US-led invasion.
