Dubai: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather forecast warning residents across the UAE to brace for extreme heat, with inland temperatures expected to reach a blistering 44°C to 49°C. Coastal and island regions won't be spared either, with highs of 40°C to 45°C, while mountainous areas will see temperatures rise to 35°C to 40°C.

Despite the scorching heat, isolated rainfall is expected this week as fair to partly cloudy skies bring a chance of convective cloud formation over eastern parts of the country by afternoon, with these conditions set to prevail through Friday.

Winds will remain light to moderate but may freshen during the day, providing slight relief. Sea conditions will remain calm, with slight waves expected in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Heat safety tips:

As temperatures continue to soar, authorities urge the public to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses:

  • Stay indoors: Limit outdoor activities, especially between 12 pm and 4 pm.

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water, even if you’re not thirsty.

  • Wear light clothing: Opt for loose-fitting, light-colored clothes and wear a hat or use an umbrella when outdoors.

  • Avoid caffeine and sugary drinks: These can dehydrate the body.

  • Never leave children or pets in cars: Even a few minutes can be dangerous.

Residents are advised to monitor official weather updates and follow health and safety guidelines during this extreme weather period.
