Dubai: Forecasters are warning motorists to drive with caution as visibility has reduced to less than 1,000 metres in most areas especially in Jebel Ali and adjoining areas due to rising dust on Tuesday.
Moderate to southeasterly winds brought dust and sand in the northern, internal and coastal areas of the UAE, including Dubai. The Burj Khalifa and Dubai’s skyline could hardly be seen from Ras Al Khor on Tuesday morning due to suspended dust particles in the air.
Coastal areas may get wind speeds of between 24km/h to 34km/h, that may reach 42km/h at times, while internal and mountainous areas may have maximum speeds of 38km/h at times.
Light rain was reported in parts of Dubai at 11am on Tuesday. More showers, albeit light, are expected on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Dusty and hazy conditions are expected to prevail over the country on Wednesday and Thursday with a chance of light rain in some parts.
The rise in temperatures over the past two days is expected to stop and a drop in the mercury is expected by Wednesday and Thursday.
