Sharjah: Sharjah Police has announced the temporary closure of a key exit from Maleha Road heading westbound toward Emirates Road (Dubai-bound), as part of construction work for the Etihad Rail project.

In a joint statement issued Friday, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Sharjah Police confirmed that the closure will begin at midnight on Saturday, July 19, and remain in effect until 5:00am on Monday, July 21.

The closure aims to facilitate the construction of a temporary bridge associated with the Etihad Rail network, the UAE’s national railway project designed to enhance inter-emirate connectivity and ease transport logistics across the country.

Motorists are advised to follow the alternative routes indicated and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays.

The Etihad Rail project, which extends over 1,200 kilometres across the UAE, is one of the largest infrastructure initiatives in the region. The railway line runs from the Saudi border across the UAE to Fujairah on the Indian Ocean coast. It is developed with an investment of Dh40b ($11b).
