Four killed and five injured in accidents

Ras Al Khaimah/Dubai: Three Asians died on Thursday in Ras Al Khimah in a road accident and two others were seriously injured in a separate road accident on Al Saedi road.

In Dubai, one person died and three others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in the past two days, police said.

One man was killed on yesterday morning when his car hit a metal barrier and turned over on Al Aweer Road near the Dragon Mart.

A senior police officer at Ras Al Khaimah's Traffic Department said so far the identities of the deceased and the injured were not established as the authorities were in the preliminary stage of investigations.

The officer added that the accident took place between a pickup loaded with paints and a micro bus with passengers where the two vehicles collided

The traffic officer said that a total of 88 people of various nationalities have been announced dead in road accidents in Ras Al Khaimah since the beginning of this year.

In Dubai, police said the victim, who is unidentified, was speeding and driving recklessly.

On Wednesday, one man sustained serious injuries when his car collided with a light pole on Emirates Road and turned over. Police said the driver was speeding and not paying attention on the road. Another man accompanying the diver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.

A woman sustained moderate injuries when a car ran her over on Al Wasl Road on Wednesday night.

No major road accidents have been reported during the rains in the past two days, but police said there were minor accidents due to speeding and not leaving enough distance between the vehicles.
