Ras Al Khaimah: The Traffic and Licensing Department warned yesterday that an increasing number of road accidents are taking place at the time of iftar during Ramadan.
A senior officer said several road accidents take place daily in different areas of the emirate at the time of iftar, when motorists drive at high speeds to get home before iftar.
The officer added that although the emirate's Traffic and Licensing Department has repeatedly warned motorists and organised major campaigns urging them to slow down at the time of iftar, "it seems that they are committing the same mistake". He added that families on iftar usually leave their houses shortly before the iftar when they speed up to catch up.
