27 flights diverted from Abu Dhabi airport due to heavy fog

Abu Dhabi: The landings of 27 flights at the Abu Dhabi International Airport were affected owing to bad weather conditions on Tuesday morning.

Heavy fog affected the visibility reducing it to 200 meters at certain times affecting the landings of 27 flights as the Abu Dhabi International Airport shut down operations for about seven hours.

An official at Abu Dhabi International Airport disclosed that the airport was closed from 2.22 am until 9.48 am for safety reasons.

Senior airport officials reiterated that they were working towards alleviating disruptions to air traffic due to bad weather as much as possible, and that this measure was necessary to ensure safety of the passengers.

The airport resumed activities from 9.48 am and the first flight landed few minutes later.
