Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, opened a charity jewellery exhibition and fashion show yesterday.

The proceeds of the three-day exhibition will support cancer patients and activities that promote cancer awareness. Organised by the Friends of Cancer Patients Group, the exhibition features the latest in jewellery by David Morris of London.

On display is a unique collection of jewellery inlaid with diamonds and precious stones, including a special set of leaf-shaped diamonds, and precious stones of various colours.

Cubic-shaped watches, inlaid with precious stones, are the highlight of the event. The fashion show is organised by Arushi Fashion House, which specialises in evening and wedding gowns and presents its summer 2001 collection. The dresses combine delicate cuts with embroidery and are styled in chiffon, organza and lace.

The 40-atrong Friends of Cancer Patients Group was set up on Sheikha Jawaher's directive to supporting needy cancer patients and their families both financially and morally. In addition, it plans activities that promote cancer awareness, conducts research and takes part in cancer meetings, and fund-raising for needy cancer patients.
