Deira Indian Islahi Centre to hold Holy Quran learners meet

Deira Indian Islahi Centre will conduct its second annual Quran learners' meet this evening and tomorrow, at Deira Indian Islahi Centre auditorium.

The programme will begin at 4.30pm and individuals. There will be separate competitions for men and women in the juniors and senior categories respectively.

Dr Ayesha Ali will open the women's meeting this evening and Dr Sakeena Moorkkan will be the chief guest. Tomorrow, the men's meet will be presided over by Muhiyudheen Madani, president, UAE Indian Islahi Centre.

Participants will be tested based on their knowledge of Holy Quran recitation (Tajweed) and memorisation (Hifdh). Quran quiz, essay writing, calligraphy and elocution competitions will also be held.

"Though participation is limited to the students of the Deira Indian Islahi Centre, we welcome everyone to participate as an audience. It will be a unique learning experience as various pointers can be picked up from different topics discussed during the quiz and elocutions," said K.A. Jabbari, the press and media co-ordinator for the centre.

First and second place winners in these competitions will participate at the branch-level competitions scheduled to be held at the end of this month.
