Marina Mall embarks on expansion plan
Marina Mall, the capital's upscale shopping arcade, has embarked on a new extension plan with the existing mall area almost fully occupied.
The mall has also tied up with National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) as part of Ramadan promotions.
The mall has transformed itself into a traditional Arabic bazaar for the 34 days of Ramadan and Eid with traditional activities and games for children taking place every night.
"The mall's extension process has started. On its completion we are optimistic that retail space will be quickly taken up due to the huge demand here," said J.P. Grobbelaar, general manager, Marina Mall. The actual cost of the extension was not provided as it is part of other developmental projects around the mall such as a hotel, villas and apartments.
The existing Marina Mall is nearly fully occupied. "Our vacancy level is just two per cent compared with the general average of about five per cent for a mall size such as ours and in just two and half years' time," he added.
As part of Ramadan promotions, the Marina Mall is running a spend and win competition.
For every Dh250 spent at the mall during Ramadan, shoppers will receive a coupon that will enter them in a draw with a chance to preloaded NBAD debit cards worth more than Dh200,000.
"We are delighted that NBAD is a sponsor with us on this major promotion. Apart from a grand first prize of a preloaded NBAD debit card of Dh150,000, two other lucky winners will receive a card preloaded with Dh100,000 and Dh75,000 respectively," said Grobbelaar.
The mall has also organised various programmes showcasing Arabian hospitality, including demonstration of traditional coffee making, falcon masters, women practising handicrafts, henna, photographic exhibitions, traditional weddings and others.
