Indian film festival opens to packed crowd in capital

Abu Dhabi: An Indian film festival began here late on Sunday with the screening of a Bollywood film by a prominent director, who introduced his work to the fully packed auditorium in the presence of Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The film Veer Zaara is an attempt to cross the political and human borders, with the universal feeling of love, said Yash Chopra.

"Love is the only feeling in the world which can never go out of fashion". His invite to the audience: "This night, let us cross all those boarders, with the feeling of love," was accepted by a loud applause.

The festival is being organised by Indian Embassy and Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH).

Shaikh Nahyan said India-UAE relations will benefit from the film festival. "Art and literature are enhancing the dimensions of relations. We consider India a special country in the UAE and look at its economic progress with admiration," the minister said.
