Houses, land to be given to poor in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Municipality and Town Planning Department will begin handing over houses and land, as ordered by President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to eligible citizens within next two weeks.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Ruler's representative in the western region of Abu Dhabi and chairman of the department has said President Sheikh Zayed had ordered distribution of 480 residential plots and 299 low-income houses for citizens in Abu Dhabi emirate.
"The grant is part of the President Sheikh Zayed's tireless effort to provide citizens with decent housing and comfortable living standards so as to ensure social stability for their families,"
Sheikh Mohammed said.
The municipality has issued the names of eligible beneficiaries and asked them to report to the land section with necessary documents.
Meanwhile, a new town comprising 2,228 housing units, in addition to schools, hospitals, shopping malls and other civic facilities, is coming up in Abu Dhabi's Western Region.
The town, called Al Hailiyah, is being built by Abu Dhabi Municipality and the Town Planning Department to provide free houses for UAE nationals in the emirate. The project was planned under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Scheme to build 2,270 houses.
