Dubai Municipality intensifies inspections of salons and beauty centres

Dubai: In preparation for the upcoming Eid holidays in the UAE, Dubai Municipality has ramped up its efforts to ensure public safety by closely monitoring salons and beauty centres across the emirate.
“In an effort to maintain public health during the holy month, #DubaiMunicipality has intensified its inspections across salons & beauty centres to ensure compliance with health and safety standards,” the civic body said in a post on X.
With application of henna being a popular tradition for many residents during the holy month, the municipality is taking extra precautions to verify that only safe and approved henna products are being used.
A video shared by Municipality on its official social media platform provides an inside look at the measures being taken to protect public health. The video highlights a series of inspections conducted by the municipality’s team from the Public Health Services Department, focusing on salons and beauty centres where henna is commonly applied.
The video showcases how inspectors check the products being used in these establishments, ensuring that all henna complies with the rigorous standards set by the municipality.
The municipality said a key part of the inspection process includes verifying that henna products are registered in the Montaji system, a platform used by the municipality to track and approve cosmetic products for safety and quality.
Apart from checking the authenticity and safety of the henna products, the inspections also cover the hygiene practices of salon staff. The municipality is ensuring that equipment used in the application of henna is properly sanitised to minimise any risk of contamination or infection.
The municipality had earlier clarified that its inspections are focused on high-risk violations in hygiene and personal cleanliness of employees and the commitment to the steps provided for cleaning and sterilisation of equipment, plus the use of disposable tools as healthy alternatives to customers.
These measures are part of the municipality’s efforts to maintain high standards of public health, particularly during the busy Eid Al Fitr holidays period when demand for beauty services peaks. By intensifying inspections and monitoring the use of approved products, the municipality aims to ensure that residents can enjoy their Eid celebrations with the assurance of health and safety.
Earlier, the municipality had also appealed to customers that in the event of any side effects from the use of any products, the customer must immediately report it to the municipality.
Customers can register complaints through the municipality call centre’s toll free number 800900 and the Dubai 24/7 app.
