Dubai: Emirati citizens holding ordinary passports can now stay in Japan for up to 90 days per visit, an extension from the previous 30-day limit. The new regulation comes into effect starting June 1, 2025, and reflects the growing strength of bilateral relations between the UAE and Japan.

The UAE Embassy in Japan announced the decision, noting that the extended stay period will facilitate greater opportunities for tourism, business, cultural exchange, and academic cooperation between the two nations.

This move also reflects the global recognition of the strength of the Emirati passport, which consistently ranks among the most powerful in the world. UAE passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 180 countries, making international travel more accessible and reinforcing the UAE’s diplomatic standing on the global stage.

This development builds on the longstanding partnership between the UAE and Japan and underscores both countries’ commitment to fostering deeper people-to-people ties and enhancing mobility for their citizens.
