Abu Dhabi: The UAE has announced the success of a new round of mediation between the Russia and Ukraine, resulting in a prisoner exchange involving 146 captives from each side — a total of 292.

With this latest operation, the number of prisoners swapped through Emirati-brokered efforts has now reached 4,641.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked both countries for their cooperation, saying it reflected their recognition of the UAE as a trusted mediator committed to supporting efforts to resolve the crisis.

The ministry noted that this is the 17th successful mediation carried out by the UAE since the outbreak of the conflict, underlining the country’s close ties with both Russia and Ukraine.

It reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to advancing peace initiatives and alleviating the humanitarian impact of the war.
