No rain in UAE despite black clouds

Dubai: The heavy black clouds spotted over the skies of Dubai on Tuesday seemed to promise rain for the desert landscape.

Rain, however, will not bless the land this week, according to meteorologists. "It will remain partly cloudy with the odd sunny spell, but we will not get any rain," said Harriet Williams, Duty Forecaster, Dubai Meteorological Office.

"For the past few days we have experienced clouds and a bit of breezy mornings, but this will gradually ease down," she said.

Temperatures are a little lower than average for this time of year - at approximately 20 degrees C - while averages are usually around 24C.

There is a risk of fog and morning mist patches developing locally.

"If it does fog-out, visibility will be around 200m to 500m, just in local patches," Williams added. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and slow down in fog, and refrain from using hazard lights that can prove a hazard themselves.

If motorists are not comfortable driving in fog, they are advised to pull over to a safer place until it clears. Over the next couple of days temperatures will warm up across the UAE, peaking up to 22-23C on Wednesday.

Temperatures will warm up for the weekend, rising to the average 24C by Thursday, and continuing into the weekend. While night time temperatures will drop to 14C across the emirates, the evenings are also set to warm up, increasing to a minimum of 16C by Thursday.
