The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum, to be implemented for the first time across public schools starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, will be included under Group B subjects. This group comprises Creative Design, Technology, and Innovation (CCDI); Visual Arts; Music Education; Entrepreneurship; Physical and Health Education; Academics; a Third Language; and Health Sciences.

No examinations

The Ministry clarified that students will not be subjected to written exams for the new AI curriculum. Instead, the subject will focus on practical projects designed to refine students’ ability to apply AI technologies in a safe, ethical, and responsible manner. The approach aims to strengthen their critical and creative thinking skills while instilling balanced and mindful digital practices.

Implementation mechanism

The Ministry explained that the curriculum will be delivered through a flexible schedule: students in cycles one and two will receive a session once every two weeks, while cycle three students will study one session per week. This distribution is designed to suit students’ age groups and learning needs.

Oversight committee

A specialized committee has been formed to monitor the implementation of the curriculum, ensuring its delivery aligns with international best practices and fulfills the overarching goal of preparing a generation proficient in AI tools and capable of leveraging them in their academic and professional futures.

Advancing the education system

The Ministry stressed that this initiative reflects its commitment to enhancing the national education system, aligning it with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and equipping students with future skills that will strengthen the UAE’s global competitiveness and leadership in education and innovation.

1,000 AI teachers

The Ministry has assigned 1,000 trained teachers across public schools to deliver the AI curriculum. These educators have completed specialized training programs to ensure they are fully equipped to engage students through modern, interactive teaching methods that meet the curriculum’s educational objectives.

UAE: Artificial Intelligence for all educational stages

The United Arab Emirates has become one of the first countries worldwide to integrate artificial intelligence into its national curriculum.
