Abu Dhabi: Twenty-three female students from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) completed the Ma'bar Al Najah [Bridge to Success] programme, designed to prepare university students for employment in the energy sector.
The 100-hour course was designed for foundation-year students, giving them the opportunity to learn skills specific to their chosen majors. The course took place at the Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Higher Colleges of Technology and was developed by the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), Dolphin Energy, and the British Council. It is the first in a series of five planned Tawteen summer programmes.
The theory portion of the course was presented in an office setting and focused on teamwork, time management, and critical thinking. Field activities included visits to Dolphin Energy, ADCO, and the Emirates Simulation Academy, where students participated in simulations of oil field and gas combined cycle power plant operations.
The culmination of the course was a visit to ADCO's Bu Hasa oil field production site where students learned about typical operations and how oil is processed and piped.
