Dubai: A police report released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has shed new light on the sudden death of popular Dubai-based travel influencer Anunay Sood, suggesting a possible drug overdose as the cause.

Sood, 32, was found unresponsive in his room at the Wynn Las Vegas luxury hotel on November 4, 2025. While initial reports were unclear, new details from the investigation indicate that narcotics may have played a central role in the tragedy.

Timeline of the incident

According to the LVMPD report, Sood was accompanied by two women, one identified as his fiancée, Shivani Parihar. The group had reportedly met a man on the casino floor around 4 am on the morning of the incident to purchase what they believed to be cocaine.

The report details that the group returned to their room and consumed a white powder using a rolled-up $100 bill before falling asleep. Around 5 am, the women woke up and discovered Sood was unresponsive and had no pulse.

First responders arrived shortly after the distress call and attempted life-saving measures. Paramedics administered CPR and five doses of Narcan, a medication used to rapidly reverse opioid overdoses but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.23 am.

Investigators reportedly found a small bag containing a white substance and the rolled bill in the hotel room.

The news has deeply shaken the digital community in Dubai, where Sood had built his life and career. Known for his cinematic travel storytelling and luxurious lifestyle, Sood had amassed over 1.4 million followers on Instagram and was recognised as a 'Top 100 Digital Star' by Forbes India for three consecutive years.

He had travelled to the US to attend the Las Vegas Concours, an elite automotive event held at the Wynn.

Following the repatriation of his body, a funeral was held in his hometown of Noida, India, on November 11. His partner, Shivani Parihar, shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media, writing, "You were my person, my safe place, my life, my everything. I don’t even know how to process this."

Pending final report

While the police report points heavily toward an overdose, the official cause of death is still pending a final toxicology analysis and assessment by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Sood’s family had previously confirmed his passing via his official Instagram account, requesting privacy during this difficult time and asking fans to avoid gathering near their personal property.
