Sharjah police officer severely beaten up by gang of 15 men
Sharjah: A police officer was beaten up severely by a gang of 15 men, police said on Tuesday.
Sharjah police are hunting for the attackers who beat up the police official and ran away.
Police said that an officer from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sharjah police was beaten up by 15 Indian men who attacked him and his colleagues while they were on duty at Al Rolla area in Sharjah on Monday night.
Police said that the CID officer identified as A.M., an Emirati in his late thirties was on duty at Al Rolla area accompanied by two other CID officers when he was attacked and beaten up by the men who used clubs to beat him.
The other CID officers managed to escape while A.M. was beaten. He was transferred to Al Kuwaiti hospital and was given several stitches to his head and other parts of his body.
Police said the attackers ran away only when the CID officer fired in the air.
A.M. said that he was not able to defend himself against the attackers because they were around 15 men.
