Bull on the loose causes panic on Kalba streets

Sharjah: An Asian man was critically injured on Kalba corniche on Monday afternoon after he was repeatedly gored by a bull on the run.

A massive bull earlier broke off from the restraints of its owner and rushed along Kalba streets evoking scenes reminiscent of the popular bull runs in Spanish cities. Emergency services were called to the corniche in Kalba to control the situation.

It appears that the bull later entered the sea, where people crowded to witness the scene.

“The bull repeatedly gored a Bangladeshi man as a group of Asian men tried to control the animal,” police said.

When the men realised they could not control the bull, they sought police help.

A police squad rushed to the scene to control the animal before it hurt more people or drowned in the sea off the corniche. “After a chase, the police units, armed with ropes succeeded in trapping the bull and tying it up. A number of Asian men were wounded in the incident while one of them who was reported to be in critical condition was transferred to Fujairah hospital,” police said.
